LEADWORK RENOVATION, WARWICK CASTLE

Following the incorporation of JTC Roofing Contractors Ltd in 1996 a long road began on important, ancient and touristic ally attractive buildings.

One of which is Warwick Castle.

This wonderful castle is one of the jewels of our nation and JTC Roofing Contractors are proud to state they are the company who have carried out more leadwork on this iconic building than any other present-day company.

Amazingly this began in 1997 with the re-ordering of the plumbing in the Stable Toilets under the instruction of Treasure and son with Stafford Holmes of Rodney Melville and Partners being the Architect in charge. A hugely great relationship was born between all parties.

This coupled with lead camera covers on Guys Tower, leadwork to the turrets and perimeter drainage aprons of Guys Tower and then the lead work to the Ramparts.

Lead rainwater stacks and soil stacks soon followed both on the Domestic Quarters, the Mill and the Main Entrance. The rainwater stacks being phased as scaffolding was moved as the wall adjacent the river is quite some drop from the parapet top to the embankment below.

Indeed the lead rainwater discharge adjacent the Main entrance had to be lined with stainless steel for fear of accidental physical damage.

Moving on from theses areas we set about repairs to the Mill and renewals to the Office, the Link, the Ghost Tower, Spy Tower, Watergate Tower and the Main Domestic Range within the next three years.

The Ghost Tower being particularly daunting as this work was carried out at night. It would have to be the ghost Tower wouldn’t it!

Finally – moving with Treasure and Son in charge of operations – on to the Great Hall and the South Wall in 2000.

We then returned with the now defunct Linford Bridgman in charge of operations in 2003 to complete the re-leading of much of the Mill.
